Introduction to Django I’m excited to share my very first video on Django — a beginner-friendly introduction recorded entirely in Sinhala, made especially for the Sri Lankan developer community.

Why I Made This Video

There aren’t many good Sinhala-language resources for learning web development, especially for frameworks like Django. Most tutorials online are in English, which can be a barrier for people who are just starting out and more comfortable learning in their native language. I wanted to change that — starting with Django, one of the most powerful and popular Python web frameworks.

What Is Django?

Django is a high-level Python web framework that lets you build secure, scalable web applications quickly. It follows the “batteries-included” philosophy, meaning it comes with almost everything you need out of the box — an ORM for database management, an admin panel, authentication, URL routing, and much more. Companies like Instagram, Spotify, and Pinterest have used Django in their early stages.
